And Temporary is Not Permanent...

This time she had gone. For ever. He knew when he stopped receiving the forwards that he found in his mailbox everyday. He knew when that specially designated folder in his email, never showed up any new mails with her name, direct or indirect.

There had been instances like this before. Numerous separations. But everytime, it was fury that had urged oblivion. Quite unlike the cold blooded logic, that measured and marked something as amorphous as love. And judged by some unwritten laws, passing a sentence that condemned, all he had, all she had, all they had; into damnation.

His cellphone became his greatest distraction. WIth cocked ears he heard every phone that rang in the vicinity. He checked his phone a hundred times a day. And more than anything else, he pined to hear that customized ringtone that had been set especially for her. Only for her.

He had spent long times with her. Together they had built elaborate dreams, which now were like patterns drawn on dust, now been blown away. The long evenings they both had created, now had retreated into the folds of the night, which too had adopted a sleepless name.

His life was like a desolate beach in lowtide; with scattered, littered remains, like sea shells marking the remnants of their common past. And the stupor of a never returning high tide, ebbing in the fact that the name she gave their love, had changed. For her it was past, for him it was everything.

You see, things had changed their way of expression, and repression was trying hard to catch up. Temporary is never permanent, and his pain was not temporary. He knew that. This time atleast. Like he always knew that he loved her more than anything else. That she was the only one he ever loved. But then these things dont matter, do they?

Temporary you see, is not permanent.

Love does things to you that, perhaps, no other emotion comes even close to doing.

Amen to 'Temporary is not permanent'. I rather like it that way :)
